Designed in 1954 by noted architect George Matsumoto the Poland-DeFeo house was originally located in Raleigh, NC and in the late 1990’s, due to rampant development of the area, was threatened with demolition. In 2001 the house was donated to Preservation NC and, under the supervision of Don DeFoe, moved to a 23 acre lot in Bahama, NC where where it was fully restored by architect Ellen Cassilly. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
