In the past few years I’ve seen some incredible things posted to the MCM design Facebook group. I’m always impressed by people’s willingness to share their beautiful items, their homes, and collections. Some members of the MCM group demonstrate an incredibly keen eye for collecting, some display fantastic skills at restoration, while others show us enviable bargains. The MCM digest will be an ongoing feature of MCM Daily Magazine. As the title says, it’s just a few things that caught my eye this week. Enjoy and tell me what you think in the comment section below!

This one is a bit of an anomaly for the group. Painted furniture posts cause a great deal of tumult and downright angst in the group. So it is a bit surprising that the most liked post in group history is of a painted piece of furniture. John-Michael Zuerlein did an incredible job with this piece and beautifully presented.

    • Fallingwater Franck Lloyd Wright mcmdaily

Jennifer Lilly Borch was kind enough to share her photos of a family trip to the always impressive Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. I find it encouraging that she shows her children not only good design, but educates them about the importance of architectural history. And there is no better ambassador of the era than Fallingwater. Good on Jennifer!

I would be remiss not to include a photo of George Marrone's house. His exquisite restoration of this home has been featured several times in the group and there simply is no bad photo of it. In fact, this home is pretty well the MCM design group's mascot. Awesome pups as well! Photo: Mid Century Mod

    • mcm home mcmdaily fireplace modern

Shawn W. Pickard recently bought this lovely MCM home. It is so good to know that this remarkable space is in the hands of someone who respects the style and will maintain its original look and feel. It is perplexing to me that some people buy MCM homes and strip them of their original character through inconsiderate renovations. Thanks Shawn for saving this one. Awesome fireplace as well!

    • Korab photo architecture mcmdaily

Claire Cavelieri was kind enough to share this photo taken of the home she grew up in, which was designed by her architect father Frank Volk Jr. Taken by legendary photographer Balthazar Korab in 1972, what’s great about this particular photo it that it is a test print personally processed by Korab himself. Korab considered this photo ‘inferior’ and gave it to her himself when he came to visit her father one evening. Lovely home, lovely photo!

    • This room by Gregg Page not only features an incredible buy - a Jens Risom green 'Caribe' chair, for $60 - but also a beautiful display of glassworks and an overall tonality that keeps the room well balanced and inviting. Kudos to Gregg!

    • Nelson Eames side coffee table mcmdaily

Pure sunshine in the home office of Kevin Rhodes. I’m always pleased to see rooms that have a fearless use of color and it all works very well here with these simple white accents like the Eames coffee table and George Nelson side tables. You could not be sad in this room!

    • Wright Beharka Modern Home mcmdaily

Kevin B. Wagner has posted several photos over the last couple of years of his lovely home. Designed by architect, and Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice, Robert Beharka. Every photo he posts of his “little jewel box” both inside and out is a tableau of tranquility. The warm tones with the beautiful natural light - and occasional cat - makes this an incredibly inviting space. Always enjoy your posts Kevin!
