Situated on a large private and wooded lot in St. Louis Park, Minnesota is the Dr. Paul and Helen Olfet Residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1958. This wonderful family home, while not typical of what some would considered Wright’s true Usonian style, does feature several of the signature earmarks of a classic Wright house. With built-in furniture, exposed brick, polished red concrete floors and large windows that flood the home with light this is very much a child of Wright’s design ethos. As Wright tended not to design homes for cities – preferring natural settings from deserts to forests – the large windows also serve to take in as much of the view as possible. This home, which entered the market recently, has seen only one owner and very little has changed since it was completed and it is rare opportunity to see one of Wright’s gems as the man had originally designed it.
