For the MCM Digest this week I thought I would do a theme – and the theme is home. This past week in the MCM Facebook there were several amazing posts of member’s homes and while every week folks share their envy-inducing spaces this past week there seemed to be more than usual (happily!). I’m always pleased that people are kind and generous enough to invite us into their homes. These posts so often serve as great sources of inspiration to those who are renovating or wish renovate a MCM house, or any home for that matter. They are also houses that were saved by those who like and appreciate the style and era. So here’s a dose of envy as we look at a few MCM gems! Links to the original post on Facebook have been included in the caption of each photo if you would like to add a comment there.

Myron Samila’s back! Many may not know but Myron is the one who actually started the MCM Facebook group. When he wanted to take some time away from Facebook in 2012, he handed the reigns over to me. He re-introduced himself to the group with these photos of his MCM home and what a lovely home it is! So many beautiful items beautiful arranged it’s an absolute treat to look through the photos. Welcome back Myron and thanks for sharing! Click here for the original post.

Wendy Simpson’s colorful, wonderful home. Wendy shared photos of her home which is a showcase of her fearless and fabulous use of color. While bold and fun there are ‘breathing spaces’ like this lovely corner. Thank you for sharing Wendy! Click here for the original post.

Jc Spiva‎’s House in the trees. Jc shared some photos of his 1955 MCM gem located in Eugene Oregon. In amazing original condition and with a city view off the back deck it’s a modern rustic retreat. Clicking through the photos it’s easy to imagine how wonderful it must be to experience the changing on the seasons in this lovely home. And, oh yeah, Jc has his own kick ass arcade! Brett Samuels’ lovely home. This past week Brett shared this photo of his home and it’s a photo that makes you wonder why anyone would want anything other than Modern. Classics like the Noguchi coffee table and Mies van der Rohe’s ‘Barcelona’ lounges with a stunning floor to ceiling view makes this not only a truly beautiful space but a timeless one as well. Thanks for sharing Brett! Click here for the original post.

Philly Alex Johnmeyer’s fantastic home. Three years ago Alex bought a lovely 1948 ranch home and is in the process of bringing it back to its original glory. However, looking through the photos I think he’s already done just that! A marvelous space with a great use of colour and – not to mention – some great art! Thanks for sharing Alex. Debra Johnston’s beautiful home. Debra shared some photos of her home this past week and this image for me is the stand out. With the glorious Hugh Acton aluminum planter and the always grinning ‘Soriana’ chair by Tobia and Afra Scarpa working quite nicely with the large contemporary art piece it truly is a timelessly modern space. Thanks for sharing Debra! Click here for the original post.

Ana June’s marvelous home. Ana and her husband only recently acquired their 1958 MCM gem and in a short period of time they’ve done an incredible job giving this home the care and attention it deserves. With many original details still in place – like the window wall and courtyard – it is a fabulous space! Thanks for sharing Ana. Click here for the original post.

I just love Kim Lubinski’s Michigan home. The color palette that changes from room to room but maintains a livable flow and furnished with wonderful design classics like the Eames ESU and child’s chair, Paul McCobb sideboard, Saarinen Womb chair, Raymond Loewy bedroom set and many others it a such a treat to look through the photos of her home. Thanks for sharing Kim! Click here for the original post.

Nancy Lilienthal‎’s classically modern home. Nancy shared this image of her home and the photos could have easily been taken 50 years ago. Beautiful brickwork, landscaping, and windows – all earmarks of classic MCM design. Although on the last point Nancy was having an issue as the windows are not terribly efficient when it comes to heating and cooling and she posted asking for advice. I hope you got some good information, Nancy, and thanks for sharing! Click here for the original post.

Samantha Blair’s home. I love how much information is conveyed with just a slice of Samantha’s lovely home. The textured glass framing the doorway, the jalousie window, and the hanging Capiz shell lamp (initially mistaken for Nelson Bubble lamps) all make for a very nice stop on Halloween! Thanks for sharing Samantha. Click here for the original post.

    And two classic group favorites!

I would be remiss not to include George Marrone’s fabulous home. No matter how many times we see this space it never fails to impress. Thank you for the regular dose of eye candy George! Click here for the original post. See More of George’s lovely home here.

And Kevin B. Wagner’s ‘Little Jewel’ box is one of those houses that the group always enjoys. The warmth and texture of this home is what every space tries to achieve – or at least should as there are few homes that look as livable as Kevin’s home. Thank you again for sharing!
